Each BIGbox cabinet is sampled in systematic way resulting in a "grid" of IRs with small, linear changes between them. Because the samples are predictable you can quickly zero-in on the perfect sound.
You can use the same micing techniques used in a studio because each library is like a real cab. Let's say that U47 FET a little too boomy, then move it back by an inch or two.
A good bass guitar tone is built with many moving parts. Your setup is unique. Don't settle for someone else's idea of good tone. Hone your own.
What You Get
The collection contains: IRs and mixIR³ IR modules. IRs are packaged as WAV audio files in a variety of sample rates. They can be loaded into most any convolution software or hardware.
MixIR³ IR modules are for use with Redwirez mixIR³ only. Each module contains all IRs for a single cabinet in one file. Loading up an IR module in the mixIR³ brings up a point-and-click visual interface for selecting mics and mic position. Modules also provide controls for tweaking the cabinet's impedance curve and bass response.
The mixIR³ plug-in is not included with the BIGbox Bass library.

We experimented with a wide range of microphones before we settled on a final lineup. So, not every mic was used on every cabinet. Check the Details link for each cab for a listing of the mics used on that cabinet.
The D12 is tuned for bass with a little boost between 60 and 100Hz and another around 5-7K for some click and string noise. Highly recommended. Frequency response 30Hz-15KHz
The D112 is more scooped sounding than the D12 and has a presence peak a little lower, between 2-5K, for a click of a different color. Frequency response 20Hz-16KHz
Incredibly scooped mic with a huge presence peak that exaggerates bass click. Not a lot going on in the mids. Interesting effect. Frequency response 30Hz-15KHz
The moving-coil transducer in the M380 is essentially a small speaker driver giving it uber-lowend response of 15Hz and an even uber--er proximity effect. Can be boomy, and require some EQ, but also captures lows that other mics do not. Did we mention it's bi-directional. Frequency response 15Hz-20KHz
A flat ribbon mic. Big proximity effect and fragile, so 4" was as close as we ever put it on a bass cab. Nice balanced sound if you give it some breathing room. Frequency response 30Hz-15KHz
This thing has low-end down to 9Hz. For real, too. It's flat down to 9Hz and up to 30KHz. Omni with no proximity effect. It tells it like it is. Highly recommended. Frequency response 9Hz-30KHz
Detailed, well-balanced mic with decent low-end. It's muted proximity effect makes it really useful on bass. Frequency response 45Hz-18KHz
Great low-end and big presence boost for cleaning up muddy bass lines. Frequency response 28Hz-18KHz
A studio staple on bass. Ours was once in service at Ramport studios, so it's possible that it sat in from of John Entwistle's stack back in the day ;-). Highly recommended. Frequency response 40Hz-16KHz
Another ribbon mic. Fantastic on electric guitar and pretty good on bass, too. Like the Coles it has a big proximity effect and is fragile, so 4" was as close as we ever put it on a bass cab. Really shines at a distance. Frequency response 30Hz-15KHz
Not quite as scooped as the D6, but the mids are "subdued". Good for cleaning up muddy bass lines with a lot of low notes. Frequency response 20Hz-16KHz
Great on bass for the same reasons it's awesome on electric guitar. Nice low-end and a presence boost to cut through in the mix. Frequency response 30Hz-17KHz
Scooped when used up close. Becomes significantly brighter and more punchy the further you move it back. Frequency response 20Hz-10KHz
Not as much low-end as some of the other mics, which can be a good thing if you have a boomy bass line to tame. Great high end. Frequency response 50Hz-20KHz
We threw this in the lineup as an "effect" mic for a ratty bass sound, and just in case y'all wanted to use the bass cabs on guitar tracks. Even though the spec says it will theoretically go down to 40Hz, we're not "shure" what they were smoking when they wrote that. Frequency response 40Hz-20KHz--ish
